Hello,
I got my new camera, a Sony DSC F717 after my Nikon Coolpix was stolen in March. I have posted my first photos with it at Pbase at the following address:

//www.pbase.com/jdanderson/sony_dscf717

I am in California on a work trip, so I am using my laptop for post processing. It only has 600x800 screen resolution and I don't get a good representation of how the images look.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
I am also back in the challenges after missing since mid March!!
It's good to get back to my addiction!

Welcome back and welcome to a fellow new F717. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine!

I really like the Golden Gate bridge shot. I look forward to seeing you in the challenges again.

Welcome back from me too. Also like the GG shot - is it me, an optical illusion, or is there some vignetting (<-- have I used this term correctly? I mean that the bridge supports look curved, a little) going on?

No. Vignetting is a different problem. It's when the lens barrel gets into the picture. It
appears as dark corners on the image.

There are two other things that you can look for in an image -
barrel distortion - wide angle, prominent in fisheye lenses, this is
where the edges of the image bulge outward

pincushion distortion - telephoto, this is where the edges seem to
curve inward. This appears to be what is happening on the
GG image.
