Well, I guess, like this thread, professional photography didn't die in 6 years :)

I think what has died is 400% markup and no competition. As a consumer, I can't grieve too much over this...

Another reason for amateurs doing work professionally is forums like these, you can ask any question you like, how to do studio work, weddings, anything, and people are very happy to help. I'm grateful for the help I have gotten from forums like these but this thread has started me thinking that you're giving away all your secrets.
