We salvaged a stereo console with an 8-Track player and some tapes that were left behind in a deliquent tenant's apartment.
The Beach Boys
Three Dog Night
The Grass Roots
...don't ever try to rewind an 8-track by turning it over and putting it in backwards.

What WAS in your CD 8-Track/cassette player..etc as a teen.
Neat stuff like Uriah Heap, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Montrose, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Grand Funk, Yes, typical early 70's rock.
Better yet, look below at kpriest's list for ones I missed here.

I don't remember what my first cassettes were but my first favorite was a mangled partially recorded mixed tape that had been through at least a dozen hands I got in 1981. One band on the tape that really struck a nerve was Black Flag. The three songs of theirs on the tape convinced me that everything else I was listening to at the time was destined for the garbage.
From then on it was bands like:
Minor Threat
Misfits
The Dickies
The Ramones
Dead Kennedys
Corrosion of Conformity
DI
The Vandals
Suicidal Tendencies
Aggression |
I think I had the same cassette......
I'd have to add a few to your list:
TSOL
Bad Religion
Angry Samoans
X
The Germs
Agent Orange
The Sub Humans
The Exploited
UK Subs
El Groupo Sexo
Fear

Same thing that was in it today:
King Crimson
- In the Court of the Crimson King
- In the wake of poseidon
But also it would have been:
- Moody Blues, On the Threshold of a Dream
- Beatles, various, White Album
- Black Sabbath, Paranoid
- Jethro Tull, Benefit, Thick as a Brick, Aqualung
Listened to those same Jethro Tull albums just yesterday! Hmmm, On the Threshold of a Dream sounds like what I should be listening to now...
Edit: Left out, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper!
I still like all that, but I think my balance has shifted to the mellow side of the force.

CD/Cassettes/8-track? Hmmm.
78s were my speed. (Sorry about that, I couldn't help myself)
Content? I vaguely remember something about Spike Jones, and oh yes,
I was reminded this week about Les Paul(and Mary Ford) when the news said Les Paul celebrated his 90th b'day. He still plays I understand.

Hey, me too. Had a nice Wollensak, then a Teac, if I remember correctly. I kept 7" tapes through college and grad school. |

I've loved music, of all types since about as long as I can remember. My Aunt Sis gave me an electric guitar when I was about 11 or twelve, and shortly after that a friend gave me an 8 track of Kiss-Destroyer, and that really sparked my interest in hard music. I got into stuff like Queen, Styx, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy etc.
In 1980, a friend played a compilation album for me called Permanent Wave, with bands like The Diodes, Kursaal Flyers, The Spikes, and a ten inch ep of Oingo Boingo's 'Only A Lad'. This stuff got my juices flowin' and then... I heard The Sex Pistols - 'Never Mind the Bollocks' and my life's never been the same since :-)
