I apologize for my loquacity here, but there seems to be (in some eyes) a fundamental misperception as to what I, and others like me, "stand for" in DPC. I'm NOT in favor of changing the "spirit of the site" to one of unrestricted editing. I just want to see rational application of the rules, whatever they are, with as little gray area as possible. I don't think it's right for anyone to imply that any member who posts rules-legal challenge entries is somehow "subverting" an otherwise pure community because s/he is trying to realize a particular visualization within the ruleset as it stands.
If the community, as a whole, believes anyone's work goes too far within the basic ruleset, then the ruleset should be modified to make it explicit what the limits are. It seems to me that skill and creativity are being labeled "subversive" and I think that's wrong.

Dear Bearmusic,
Thank you for all the trips you've given me to www.dictionary.com today, it has been didactic.

Step back from your keyboards...
Just go out and take some purdy pitchers now - OK?

Sure thing. Meanwhile, if you want to see me at work subverting the community with my radical ideas, check out my challenge submissions for the last couple months.
I'm not even particularly exercised about this, and I actually believe Coolhar doesn't have anything against me, personally, or anyone else if it comes to that. Nor, for that matter, have I anything against him. It's just a horse I feel like riding right now I guess. I think it's important. Apparently hardly anyone else does, however.

I wouldn't necessarily say that, Bear. You're just doing a good enough job of supporting this side of the discussion. |

Tried to ride that horse too in the past, and learned 3 things from it:
1) I managed to piss people off.
3) I fought a losing battle.
2) See number one above. |

Some of us are chained to our keyboards. :(
And as I work away, furiously trying to catch up on all the projects that slipped because of my addiction to DPC, I occasionally pop-in to see what the lates brew-ha-ha-hee-hee-hee is. ;-)

1. Who's pissed off? Not me, and i don't see anyone else who seems to be either.
2. You lost? How? So far, the rules allow me to do what I do, and some people seem to be objecting to this. So far, we seditious photomanipulators are winning, as far as I can see.
3. See number 1 above.
(Spoken with a grin on my face)

as did the goat, the ass, and sow
i once shot off my mouth
and killed a thread - die now |

Waaaay back when I was in the Navy, we used to settle these things in what they called "smokers" - Brad, being ex-navy, can probably recall this tradition. Smokers are simply boxing matches. You get in the ring together and pummel each other senselessly. Both the pummeled and the pummeler come out of it feeling much better.
Since it is obvious to an astute observer, such as myself that Harvey "Coolhar" and Robert "bear_music" are seething at each other and clearly want to rip each others guts out, I think we should have our first DPC Smoker! I think it only fair to let Karma assist Robert since he might not hear the bell. I'll sell tickets and take wagers. Is there a photographer in the house? LOL heeheehee or jejeje⢠:) :P

No entry found for familial palsy.
Did you mean femoral pulse?
Suggestions:
femoral pulse
family Liliaceae
family Lepiotaceae
family Lobeliaceae
No entry was found in the dictionary. Would you like to search the Web for familial palsy?

Yeah, I requested awhile back that my username be changed to "potstirrer". I really don't need any more stuff for the next Enquirer edition - my notes overfloweth. :)

Familial Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
Runs in my family, actually, is how I know about it... There are some signs I'm getting it, but my dad has it and he's still perking along nicely at age 90, so...

This and Bear Music's entry were my Ribbon favorites so I guess its Go Bear GO. I think that this is a warning nit to take anything for granted.
A crying shame really |

Then you're 0-for-2, Nick; I'm running 5.0017 right now... On a shot with virtually NO PP by the way; Har would be proud of me.

Eh - oops!
Thought you were making a terminology joke, meaning families and palsy.
I have heard people say how retarded family members can act and thought that was the direcion you were making reference to.
Sorry Robert - was NOT making light of something real.
