		Hi,
I seek to invest in a tripod and kneecapof quality to make animal's photography.
My heaviest objective is my CANON 100mmX400mm...
I hesitate between "MANFROTTO" et "GITZO"...
Which difference and which model to choose???
Thank you very much for your opinions
 Philippe

I would never use anything other than my Gitzo. I've owned 3 of them so far and have never been dissapointed.

I use a Manfrotto 3265 Pistol Grip head on my tripod - whatever tripod you get, that's a great head!

I use a bigger carbon fiber with a big magnesium ball head. Rock solid.

I have the Manfrotto 3011 with the 486RC2 ball head and a Manfrotto 3221WN with the 488RC0 ball head. They both work great. I have had no problems with them. The 488 head handles my D-70 with the 80-400 VR lens nicely.

I have a Gitzo 1228 and a Kirk BH-3 ballhead on order right now.

Should be here in a week and a half or so (the Kirk ballhead is a special order). I've heard nothing but glowing reviews for the Gitzo 1228 and the Kirk ballhead.

Can't wait until they both arrive. Also got an L bracket (for horizontal or vertical mounting of the camera on the ballhead) and a ballhead snap collar so that I can carry around the tripod with the camera attached without putting additional strain on the ballhead or camera.
