This thread 'Challenge Results' clearly state 'Did the winner deserve to win', but I have seldom found this aspect to be discussed. IMHO, I have found several times that a winner entry did not deserve to win. But, I never had the courage to say so.
Voting is a democratic way of selection. But is it always flawless?

No.

Yes I have often looked at a Blue Ribbon picture and thought it didn't deserve to win for whatever reason; but the voters are always right. This system works well enough to have my complete trust.

People have different tastes and opinions. What one person likes another person may dislike. The placements of images is based on a majority so all views, opinions, likes, and dislikes are taken into consideration and the ones with the greater showing will win.

The forum thread is about anything to do with the challenge results. People have used it to discuss why they feel a winner should not be a winner. Additionally people have used it to discuss images they personally liked and wished placed higher.

I think, the photographs that are able to ellicit more number of comments also score high. (Some times it happens the other way round also).
I have often found that the average score was 5.0 and av.score of commentators was 7.5.

Normally when someone comments on an image it is because they particularly like or dislike it. Average images usually dont get too many comments as often the photograph is a technically ok image but just doesnt do much for the viewer and so the viewer has less to say.

So it's not so much that lots of comments means a high score but a high score means more people like it and as such comment on it more.

Majority wins all the time, but they are sometimes not right.

Why, because you liked a different photo more? Sorry that makes no sense. Eveyone will have their favorite photo that maybe does not place where you may think it should. Put it in your favorites. That will show how much you really like it.

Edit...and to be fair.....you put lots of photos in your favs....so hats off to ya.
