There is a series on BBC4 in the UK which involves a number of professional photographers showing images of Britain.. During the show they have their kit taken away and are given various point and shoot and phone camera to see what they can do.

Unfortunately I missed the first last Sunday. It is being repeated on Friday at 2:15pm on the afternoon
the 10.00pm every Sunday evening

They have a website giving tips on taking photographs..
showing ideas on light and composition etc..
