If anyone is interested I just put my 50mm F1.8 II up for auction at EBAY as I've had it since December and only used it once!!!!! Besides what the listing says, I bought it to use at a wedding on New Years Eve and never took it out of my bag.

Happy Bidding :-)

LOL Sorry, I work with a company called EBA, I guess that's why I put it in the subject line instead of EBAY.

I don't consider the 70-200L a replacement for the 50mm but good luck on your selling.

I didn't have a decent lens at all that's why I bought the 50mm cause it was all I could afford and then the money fairy brought me the L lens. But thanks for making me sound suspicious! LOL

The MF hangs with the tooth fairy. Honestly, I think they have a little somethin' somethin' on the go.

Are you converting to Canon?

I am saving for the Canon 20D

Good for you Mel! I want to get one next year maybe. Charla bought one and it's dandy - the natural noise reduction is really great.

Interesting note here..
//www.photo.net/equipment/canon/ef50/

About the 50mm f/1.4 vs the f/1.8 II lens.
The f/1.4 seems to be a nice step ahead of the f/1.8.. Something to keep in mind.. And who outbid me? lol Oh well another bid to come ;-)

THe 1.4 is indeed a big step ahead of the 1.8. The fact that it's $500 MORE where I live also says alot. Something else to keep in mind :-)

yes, but when does quality overcome cost? When you are an amature with no motivation to become professional? Or you just like crappy photos?

Spent $1500 on my camera, don't want a walmart lens on it ;-)

LOL..it's far from a walmart lens. The differences optically to go from 1.8 to a 1.4 are what accounts for the extra cost - not so much quality. The quality produced by my 28-105 for $300 is far less than the 50mm 1.8 for half the price.

I'm talking CND too so that accounts for a big portion of the price difference I think.

The 50mm f1.8 is, despite its low price, one of the sharpest lenses made by Canon.
