Lens cap on, anyone?
It'd definitely meet the challenge, no?
Hello darkness my old friend,

Please, for the Love of God, no. It's been done so many times here before, and it is just as non-funny as the first time... I'll be willing to bet a handsome sum that there will be at least 5 of these "clever" entries, though. |

I just got back from my lunch walkabout and got the shot I'll probably use for this challenge. It was my first "almost run-in" with anti-terrorist security in the form of a maintenance guy wondering what I was up to and telling me that I'd probably be called in to security pretty soon. And I'd only been there for a few minutes. I noticed that I'd been spotted as suspicious off the bat, though, even though I'm dressed in casual business attire.
I don't think this gives too many clues as to my photo?

I have a question on this challenge - it states to take a photo of what darkness means to us. Does this mean it has to be a dark photo? As in, what if darkness is a liberating state for someone, then it would not be dark as we perceive it, but light as in it provides comfort and security. Anyone see what I am getting at here? Would a photo with a concept like this tank do you think?

Alienyst that was what was going through my head as well... I have too many ideas running through my head on this one that I'm going to have trouble figuring out what I want to do... I think I know already but darn it I'm not sure my camera can handle it. :(

I'm thinking it shouldn't HAVE TO BE a dark shot, but the majority of voters probably are going to disagree.

Total tank-job in the making. Take it from one who tries stuff like that all the time. These pictures better be OF some manifestation of darkness or theya re doomed. That's what I think, anyway. I could be wrong.

I agree. If what's Darkness to you isn't Darkness to the average voter.... bzzzzt!
-edit: I have the perfect example right now of what's Naturally Framed to me, is not Naturally Framed to the average voter.

I like your direct and to the pointedness! Yeah I am thinking the same thing. Not that I am worried about tanking, seems I have done nothing but that.

This challenge does not necessarily mean that the photo has to be of darkness. Darkness could be the darkness of alcoholism, child abuse, drug use, schizophrenia, etc. Climb out of the box. Don't limit yourself to just taking pictures of night Originally posted by Alienyst: I have a question on this challenge - it states to take a photo of what darkness means to us. I'm wondering how flowers will work their way into this one.
Dead flowers...?
I see it as a quest for metaphorical darkness. Not the opposite of Light On White per se. I believe the key word in the description is the word "mean". There's the obvious lack of light darkness, which is just.....well, ....darkness. That alone of course can be very powerful but the word "mean" opens up some very interesting avenues.
Again I think a plain old shot of darkness is fine, if that's what darkness means to you. There are some very cheery people on this site unlike me who lurches in the underbelly of the night. Plenty for me to shoot.
