Well, I thought I would share a little of my personal photography story, for those who are interested...

I bought a FujiFilm S7000 last year. It was an eye opener for me. I quickly came to enjoy it versatility and the excellent images it took. I started taking pictures and reading what I could and joined DPC, not quite a year ago. Well, I took about 8000 pictures over 9 months with the camera and learned ALOT, esp. thanks to this site. The forums and critiques here are great:)

Then I had the opportunity to sell it, for basically the same price I bought it. So, I jumped at the chance because even though it is a great camera, I came to see it limitations quickly, esp. in the limited apetures as well as the noise at higer ISOs.

So, then I bought a FujiFilm S5100 for my wife, which I used for three months. A fun little camera for $200 (I paid $250 and got a $50 rebate). I took pictures and it made me focus on technique rather than just depending on the camera quality. But, I kept eyeballing the dSLRS...

And, last week, I took the plunge. After much debate and comparisions, I bought the Canon XT with the Sigma 18-200. I wanted a lense that alot of versatility. And,I will use it on the front end of the learning curve as I learn to shot.

But, mostly I just want to say thanks to all the great people here at this site and esp. those of the site council and responsible for maintaining this site. What a great place for people wanting to learn to take better photos... you all have helped me become a much better photographer... and I hope my next year is better than my first and, yes, I am hoping for that ribbon one of these days:)

I wish i could just take the plunge like you did. I think my camera is pretty broken at the moment. It nrealy always overlights and since a few days all the pictures are becomeing pretty noisy. bah! i really want a dSLR too but theres nothing i can really do to get one.

Well, now I'm really scared. You're pictures before the Rebel are so beautiful and colorful, I can't imagine what they're going to be like now. :-)

Time to update the biographical data in your profile, then... And good luck with the new cam!
