Alright, I'll be the first to admit that I'm very green when it comes to photography. I'd LOVE to have the money for a DSLR (or even something close!), but what I have is money for lenses I can attach to my current camera.
Searching through Ebay, I've noticed lenses available from these brand names:
Pheonix
Digital Optics
Merkury Optics
Pro Optics
See, the thing is, my camera has a Zeiss lense, so I'm hesitant to put something over the top of it if it will make my photos worse. But I REALLY would love to have a telephoto lense.
So if anyone out there has ever heard of these companies or knows anything about the lenses they make, I would really appreciate some input.
Till then, I'll just be scouring the internet and dreaming :-) Thanks! |

I'd seriously stay away from them all. None are worth the little they are asking for them, IMO. You might, under some conditions, get acceptable results, but I don't think you'll be satisfied overall. Save and get the model intended for your camera, you'll be glad you did.

I know, but I'm in a bit of a state because Sony doesn't make my camera anymore. I'm having problems finding good lenses that would still adapt onto the camera that I have, seeing as how it's been discontinued.
Are there any sites that people love for lense shopping? |

You need this adapter, then it appears you can use this Wide Angle add-on lens from Sony. There may be other add-on lenses out there as well.

If you get the adapter and a 52-55mm step-up ring then you could use an Olympus TCON17, this will turn your 102mm into something over 170mm and the TCON17 is very good quality (I still use mine quite a lot)

ok, if a 52mm is what i'm shooting for, then THIS should fit, right?
Telephoto lense
I just don't want to plop money down for something that won't work!
Grrr, I hate being a noob! In 25 years i'll figure this all out and I PROMISE to give advice to all the noobs I come across! :-) |

That's the one I use for my DSC-S70. Using the add-on teles you must keep the camera at full zoom or you will get viginetting.
