Read Bio

Maybe be true though.
Just did some test pics and can find NO DATA in image file. IPTC is there same as my old Mavica, but is a user-input only. EXIF reader doesn't see anything, nor does Photoshop CS2.

Hmmmmm...

Thanks for the chuckle Joey - guess turn about's fair play huh?

looks like you got some competition there Brad ;)
and he's quite good for a 15 year old..

I know he is.
One of the up & coming (well already here) stars on the site.

Biggest challenge I've had since joining this site.

I used to use one of these in the late 90's, now I'm tempted to get one from ebay and muscle in on this challenge :)

Joey got a ribbon not long ago with that camera. How would it be validated if it doesn't find the info?

Looking at Brad's profile, I think he means the Mavica does not attach EXIF.

Maybe a 'proof-of-life' shot where you put today's newspaper in frame to show when it was taken :)

Exactlty what to we need to qualify for this handicap challenge? I've still got my 2MPixel Ixus (in fact I took my last challenge entry with it just for a laugh). But from what I've read this might be a bit too new-fangled to qualify :(

Wouldn't be accepted without exif. Better not be.

Wouldn't help. An entry taken with a camera which does not record EXIF is ineligible to enter. Entries must contain valid EXIF data which includes a date inside the challenge.

Oh, I don't read his original post that way at all. I thought he was saying it "may be true" that he won't ribbon with Joey's camera (what the bio says) cuz there's no info there. I thought he was talking about the IPTC being the same AS the mavica, but talking about the 600L in the post.

However, after doing some research, if he DID mean the 600L, he's just wrong. lol It does keep exif.

Maybe a 'last century' challenge, the pic must be taken with a camera manufactured before 01.01.2000 I know that EXIF is an issue for this site but many camera from this era are supported, now where's my old Kodak DC260 :)

The files from the D600L have NO data attached to them.
Looking them, I may as well be looking at the mavica files.

So I wonder now, how is validation done with these jpegs? Can I shoot an original to a SC member and see if it qualifys before I submit a shot to the construction challenge?

Edit to add:
I've tried digging in the file with the following:
Exif Reader V.3.0
Irfanview w/plugins
Adobe Photoshop CS2 & 7.0

Only IPTC shows up (as in Irfanview) but ALL fields are blank, including date.

Brad,
You can send me a file if you want, use the addy in my profile.

Edit:
Brad, I went back and reviewed an previous proof file from this camera, and we were able to validate it :-)
