I'm considering buying a Nikon 12-24mm f/4G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens for my D70. Does anyone have any feedback they could share about this lens performance? Thanks, Bob

Check Bob Atkins and Popular Photography. Popular Photography rates the Tokina 12-24 higher than the Nikon, and it's a few hundred dollars cheaper as well.

another option is the Sigma 12-24, or, if you wait, the Sigma 10-20.

I've heard the Tokina is noisy (volume not image noise), but sharp. the Nikkor is quite fast, very sharp, no CA to speak of (which the Sigma has been rumoured to have - again, second hand info).

I've won a ribbon 100% of the time I've entered DPC contests with it. ;)

There you have it, straight from the demented horse's mouth: want a ribbon? Buy this lens.

Robt.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've got some background work to do on this one still.
