We have an option to block nudity. I was just wondering if a filter to simularly block offensive or unwork friendly content might also be a good idea?
06/03/2005 01:36:51 PM · #2
For example?

The term "Offensive" is too subjective to be able to block in my opinion.

I find brussel sprouts offensive. I would like images of them blocked. Those hideous little green brain things make me gag just looking at them.

It could be made available for the one who starts a thread for example. If I post something about Llamas and cheesecakes, I check the "Not work friendly" box. A small icon in front of the thread title warns ppl at work.

or you could do like me and get a job where they really don't care what you look at.

Of course, by naming this thread the way you did, you're only going to attract people who are LOOKING for offensive content...! :)

When I was little my dad made me eat one. I promptly ran from the table and threw up outside. I haven't eaten one since. Those things are truly offensive!

And I thought I was the only one who hated them. I was once away with a group on vavtion and was forced to eat a whole plate full of brussel sprouts. That was the worst holiday of my life.

Not surfing the net at work would solve this problem ;-)

That's like asking most people to cut off their right arm!!!!!

Oh, that brings back memories. Bad ones! The only time we ever had them as kids was once when we had company over after church. Parents insisted that I eat one even though I knew by the smell it was a bad idea. Needless to say, I had the same reaction as you, but I didn't even have time to get up from the table. At that point, dinner was over for everyone!

As a result of my brussels sprouts experience alone, my children have never, and will never, be forced to eat anything they don't want to. I only ask once & if they say no, no it is & we have no problem with it. They're really good about trying new things anway, luckily. My three year old is the only one in the family who'll eat pickles. Funny how different people like different things, but absolutely nobody should like brussels sprouts, those things are just plain offensive and should be banned from the forums.

I feel so strongly about this I've changed my signature!

Your right. I was offended by the brussel sprouts but I'm more offended by the fact that there aren't any Llamas and cheesecake here. Where are the llamas and cheesecake?

Between you and Ken I'm going to have to visit my preferences page pretty soon aren't I? ;^)

Perhaps we should change the subject to cheesecake.
Or algebra. Or the use of hidden pins in new shirts with collars.

Has anyone ever thought really carefully about Brussel Sprouts??

They stink when you get them out of the bag, they stink when you cook them...

They stink when you serve them up for dinner...and they stink when you fart!! In fact, they pass thru you without any bodily process affecting them.

I think Brussel Sprouts should be banned, ejected into space, force-fed to health freaks and kept well away from my dog, she doesn't need them, phew!!
