I noticed this too. I believe it's from either light through the tree, or from the reflector. If they choose this one, I'll copy the same area from the other image, and paste it over that area. You have to like being able to Photoshop out things like that :-)
Thanks,

Now that it's been pointed out, I realize I don't have a lot of images with the ring... d'oh... isn't that what it's all about anyway?
(makes note to include more ring shots in next engagement shoot)

People probably want to see more shots of the ring, but I'd rather one or two shots where their hands are prominent or the main subject and then the rest of the shots like you got. Trying to get ring shots into portraits always seems contrived to me and I don't think they look as fun and natural as the stuff you have now!

the shots are beautiful! congrats on such fine work.
I personally would have liked to see a few more spontaneous, almost candid like ones. In some of them the poses begin to seem a bit robotic. But thats my only critic. Excellent job otherwise! Lovely.

I do agree,,I love to use the natural light if at all possible,,I am sure eventually I may get into, but there is just something about using the natural elements if possible,,but thats also me, then again you can also convey some amazing pics using equipment,,smile

I agree... the candid type of shot is truely a special shot when caught. This is an area that I know I need to work more on when on a shoot with a client. Seems it's easier to tell them to pose instead of just be natural and I'll see what I can capture ;-)

I'm still curious how you can get shots with this type of lighting and no reflector or flash. Lighting is one of my weaker areas. Anyone have some samples they can show me where they didn't use a reflector and got similar results?

This is a shot I took with my little sony camera. I didn't use a flash or a reflector. As you can see the sun was almost directly behind us. Not sure what my settings were. Most all of the shots for that shoot turned out like this. It was 10:00am in October.

these were done with no flash or reflector...just filtered afternoon (about 2pm) sunlight.
i like the pics, crab...they look great...a little posed but that might be what the client wants.

This is one of my favorites without flash or reflectors. If I'm any further into the shade, I am usually using fill flash. I generally don't have a wonderful helper named Laurie with me...great job to both of you. Laurie, are you planning a trip to Ohio in the near future? |

Really great pictures. They seem so relaxed and natural.
I hope that neither of them are adopted...is it just me, or do they look like brother and sister? |

Engagement Shoot |
Great pics. The only thing I can suggest is next time get more shots where the couple is looking at each other instead of straight at the camera.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I have put the final 4 images up. Hopefully they'll find 2 images out of all of these for their 2 - 20x24 prints they're going to have at the wedding reception. Personally, I wouldn't want a 20x24 of my mug anywhere on display :-D

The shots look really good, I'm sure it was all due to the reflector card girl tho.......;-)
Let us know which one(s) the happy couple select.

Beautiful lighting!! They should be delighted with them.
What lens did you use Danny?

Thanks!
I used the Nikkor 28-70 f/2.8 for these shots. It's my main lens and always provides nice crisp shots with good color and contrast.

Wonderful shots :) I must agree, the lighting and use of the reflector is great. The reflector was much needed. I also agree, a few more candid shots of them laughing or looking at each other and ring would be nice for their collection. You did a great job as always ! |
