Saw that this morning.

Pretty sweet for the people who don't want the hassle of multiple lenses... wonder what the battery life is on that LCD sucker ;)

There was a sorta rumour/leak about this cam on Let's Go Digital a week or so ago. I've been waiting for something more concrete. It sounds like a neat camera. Wonder what it's going to sell for?

An IS version would be nice. But, as was pointed out in the dpreview forums, people took pictures with 400+mm lenses before IS was invented. You can always use a tripod, a monopod, a beanbag, or steady the camera by holding it against a telephone pole, etc. If the light is good enough for fast shutter speeds (to be safe I'd say 1/800 or better at max zoom) you can get clear shots handheld. The relatively large aperture will help. And hopefully it will perform well at the higher ISO settings.

Schneider Glass too cant be a bad thing, I can remember seeing this glass around a few years back but cannot remember the camera it was associated with. I hope it is REAL unlike the panasonic use of LEICA glass and the Sony use of ZEISS (Im not trashing sony or panasonic here), it does, however, look like a brilliant camera and Samsung is not a bad company either, the zoom facility seems great, battery life might be an issue with such a large monitor but even then, im sure it is switchable. Im not sure I think a large in camera monitor is such a great asset because the truth is we upload the image to a computor monitor at the end of the day.

My first impression is that it looks like a decent camera that any owner would be proud of I cannot wait to see the image quality that it can produce and I am very happy to see other companies producing good cameras at prosumer level ... Competition is never a bad thing.

I agree that IS would be indispensable on a camera with this zoom range. That's why I'll stick to Panasonic for the prosumers. Other than this it does look like a well thought out camera. I would have thought noise levels on that 8MP sensor would be through the roof though.
