I think it would be useful to have an anonymous forum section where users can go and vent about comments made during a challenge or just post a thought without giving their identity away. I myself don't have anything to complain about, but after every challenge it seems that people wait anxiously to respond to some comment (be it good or bad) and virtually explode with their thoughts once they are able to speak. This way people could get it out without having to wait a week. -Just a thought.

Sometimes when you jump to get something out of your system you say stuff you regret. I think it is better how it is. I sometimes get mad at some comments but then after a cooling off period I see what they mean and thank them for taking the time to comment anyway.

I agree that it woudl provide a "relief valve" for folks to let off steam, and that would be a good thing. Even with anonymity of posts, however, there woudl still be issues with folks revealing their entries, either intentionally or unintentionally, through the text of their posts. The anonymity would also encourage "flame" posts, though that could be mitigated by making the posts only temporarily anonymous. All in all, I don't know whether this would be a positive thing or not.

Good points, I didn't think about that.

I wonder why someone would need to "vent" and not have the fortitude to stand-up for their views/comments... in the same sense as I don't find it very pleasurable to get incidious comments on an entry and not know who the person making it is because it was a hit and run.

When the 'Rant' forum was unmoderated, as in my view it should still be, it finctioned quite happily as a letting-off-steam room. Since the moderation, that forum has pretty much died.
