I just got my Cokin P filter set in the mail today, a circular polarizer and a graduated neutral density filter. How do you guys keep fingerprints off this stuff? Even holding the neutral density filter by the edges, I could hardly hope to keep dust and fingerprints off of it. Does this affect image quality, having a little bit of fingerprints and dust on the filter?

thanks!

A little dust probably will not affect the images. Finger prints will, if they are in the lens's field of view.

I completely gave up on chamois cloth once I found the Sima.LensPen. This is a fat pen-like tool with a retractable, very soft paintbrush and a capped (almost)dry cloth rubbing tool.

Lint leaves and stays away and if I have to rub out my fumble finger marks I can. It is also very useful in cleaning off a mostly-dry fresh-from-the-printer image and the glass of a frame.

edit: spelling

Urro,

I use a lint-free 'microfiber' lens cloth I got at a camera shop a while ago.

I keep it a wee plastic bag in my camera bag to avoid it getting dirty/dusty.

For stuborn dirt I use Eclipse and pec pads from //www.photosol.com

Cheers, Me.

You want to be careful taking the filters out of the holder also - I've marked a line down the center of a few Cokin filters by accidentally dragging them over the 'hump' on the front of the filter holder.
