A friend of mine married an American woman quite a number of years ago & now lives in USA. I haven't seen them since 1988. As time goes by you always seem to loose touch as is the case here. I have often wondered what they are doing but in those pre-email days, when someone changes address you can loose touch with them so easily. During the 9/11 period I wondered about them alot as they are in that part of America. Recently, I found one of those "Find Old Friends" type websites & decided to give it a go. For US$7.95 I now not only know where he lives currently, but I have every address he has lived at while in USA, his telephone number & this is the scary bit, how much money he earned last year. Not bad for $7.95. For an additional $7.95 I could do full criminal & credit background checks as well. So if you think you are living in a private enviroment, think again. Not only is Big Brother watching you, but he is selling your privacy for $7.95.

Wow, that is spooky. They not only found me, but my dad, and my mom, who's been dead for 6 years.

You'd be surprised what you can find for free on google.com. My girlfriend's ex found her address, and phonenumber as well as gpa, and current classes for her college.
In the US, alot of public records are free. With the right reasons you can get nearly anything. As well as if you have press access you can find out what your 50 yr old friend made on his 8th grade algebra tests.
Oh, yeah.. its all free.

That's a different kind of scary. Many states have that information available online now. |
