Get your photo validated then if they're saying its photoshopped...

They're formulas that essentially are designed to weed out false statistics. If it exceeds a certain level of deviancy it is deemed that the data collection was in err. And thus discarded. A very very common practice in scientific statistics. It'd make most trolling + or - of no real affect.

I think what people are complaining about is when they DO improve their work. And when they take a masterful and well composed and perfectly executed photo - but it is hurt because people believe it could NOT have been taken naturally and must have been photoshopped. And instead of requesting a DQ validation they slam it with their vote. These are usually not bad photos but ones that are usually getting rave reviews and criticisms but then find several low scores with comments akin to "well i don't see how this could have legally be taken so I just can't give it a good score"
LOOK...I understand your points but I also KNOW FOR A FACT that such happens. I've had comments where people have essentially stated "oh wow...I read the title and now realize how you took this shot...i thought it was just photoshopped but now that I realize it wasn't - great shot I've re-adjusted the score."
People get frustrated by the "This would have been a great shot if it had been real so I am voting it low since it's not." That's all... [/quote]

a photo can only be validated is someone requests that it be validated. You can't request your own photo for validation. As far as I know anyways.
I wish someone would on mine quite frankly becuase of my original comment in this thread

you CAN ask that your photo be validated....and yes you can askthat your own photo be validated this was discussed in the forums a little while back
under your photo in the challenge, there are the following words "Do you feel that your submission might receive some disqualification requests?
If so, you can Request an Admin Note for your image "
you can do the same if you think you will be accused of over photoshopping

Just want to add that no matter what, low scoring voters have and always will be present. To back up that, look at the following shots on the site's highest rated list and look at the number of 1's, 2's , etc.
 8.304 with seven 1's!
 7.901 with three 1's!
and the list goes on & on...
Put up a Picasso abstract here, and I for one would probably vote it a one, as I don't care for them and surely wouldn't have a print hanging on my wall (regardless of value). Never gonna' please everyone.
Courtesy comments as to why a voter ranked something under a 3 for instance would be helpful and I for one, would respect someone's opinion if they said something like "I didn't think it met the challenge and don't find this kind of photography appealing to me at all - sorry"
Getting ones bothers me less nowadys, as I think everyone has a right to their own opinions, though I personally couldn't vote something that met the challenge and was at least half decent, less than a five. I have suspected in the past that some that may think they have a chance or want to better their own placement and will attack a good shot towards the end of a challenge, as I personally have seen some of my own shots take sudden drops near the end, with no change in total vote numbers.
Doubtful that it affects a whole lot really, as in those cases (if what I suspect was true), would have the other great shots getting theirs knocked down as well, just affecting the curve in a way.

Go to your photos in a current challenge..(one thats beeing voted on) click on your photo, and you will see it under your photo
