I took this photo the other day and really like it. Problem is, the wings are blurred. Body seems in focus, but wings are questionable. It was shot at 80mm, F/11 at 1/200 of a second. I was panning as it flew by. Shutter speed was a bit too slow for this type of motion. Does the wing blur detract too much from the shot? This is straight from the camera, just resized for DPC. Any Post Processing suggestions or thoughts?

I don't think it is too bad, but that depends on how big your normally going to view it. Maybe try to select just the wings and apply a little sharpness at a time.

Very nice image by the way, great colors.

It's a flying bird - blur gives it a sense of motion. If you think the blur is more of a distraction then go over the top and make the blur even more obvious to add to the sense of motion.

As for PP, I would crop it so the bird wasnt in the middle but yet continue with the diagonal theme suggested by the bird and clouds.

You may want to enhance the blur a tiny bit to give more of a motion feel. otherwise you are kinda stuck with it, unless you want to manip it with overkill. :)

It does give it a sense of motion. next time try upping your iso speed to get a faster shutter for the same aperature and lighting.

Good advice from moodville - I'm sure she means something like this:

...well, ok she didn't say anything about jet engines, but I think every bird should have 'em. ;-)

That's looking better, any chance for a little "afterburner action"?
Or would that lead to a "Smells like chicken" comment? LOL!

kpriest, you know you are not allowed out in public! It's time for your medication...

Seconds later, JetGull kicks in the afterburners. But there is a problem...

OK, now lets not go overboard! And to think I thought I might get a little bit of constructive help here.

Thanks Ken, now I'm laughing so hard I can't even think of getting any work done! Guess I'll grab a fire extinguisher and head back to the beach!
