I've been playing with dodge & burn trying to get a feel for it.
I do ok for the most part, but I have a real hard time getting rid
of the digital artifacts(little freakin square spots). |

is the image being compressed really high? Try saving it as a Tiff so no compression happens, then work on it. do a jpg as your final step, that will help retain quality.
---on a side note: anyone know how I can get rid of my little icon dude, don't care about star wars (a hush falls over the crowd) and it looks too much like something else that although I've been called one I don't necessarily want it as my icon. Thanks

Sounds like you need to clear your cache. The star wars icons have been gone for a few days now. |

following this trend of thought, I imagine that it would also then be
benificial to work in 16 bit vs 8 bit?

ok that helps, when you convert keep it as a 16 bit tiff until done editing then convert to 8bit jpg. I used to edit and save edit save and didn't realize I was hurting the image everytime I saved. Hope this helps.

Also, you should always do your editing before resizing for DPC. Everything will look better and you'll have finer control.
