Anyone care to photograph my decision not to enter the challenge ?

Technically there is no way to photograph a decision. All we can do is capture a past manisfestation or the end result. To show images of lingering a choice is before a decision.
So actually the challenge is not really that hard to interpret. You need only show the end result of a decision as the verb can not be captured as it is taking place in the present. We are left with decisions made which are directly equal to choices made. |

Done and Done. I used a little dodge and burn for dramatic effect.

a decision is to actually do something which is also a choice, u chose to enter this site.
an indecision is to have to decide, which is not yet a decision. i could enter the site but u choose not to.
GET IT?
therefore to take a photo of a decision is to photograph something that u decided and actually did, like: i married, i got pregnant, i punched someone....not saying that u yourself had to have done it but it has to be a decision not an indecision.

You could also decide not to do something, as in the case of the guy sitting in the Lazyboy snoozing while his house is in disrepair and his tools lay on the floor beside him. :) |

Choices Challenge and Indecision Challenge
I didn't see this challenge until a few minutes agon (been busy, haven't been on dpc recently, but I shot something earlier today that I think would fit it quite well. Very cool :) |

I've decided to try to quit smoking, in real life, and thought this challenge might serve as a prod. Then I noticed there have been a number of shots already in previous challenges involving broken cigarettes, etc.
So, I've made two decisions, at least:
1. To not use the decision to quit smoking as a topic for this current challenge
2. To re-evaluate the decision to quit smoking, as I'm frustrated with the fact that I can't come up with a good idea for this challenge, and therefore need the nicotine fix.
Thanks for reading.

Speaking in the abstract, how does one go about shooting a "decision"? How is a "decision" different than a "choice"? Is an image of INdecision on topic? After all, in order to MAKE a decision we have to progress from a state of indecision to decision, no?
The interesting thing here, semantically, is that we have been asked to photograph the decision itself, not (for example) the options from which we may choose, and not (for another example) the condition of indecision, the "inability to choose".
So, how do you shoot a "decision"? For example, when I got up this mornign and saw it was cold & rainy out, I "decided" to wear loungin pants when I got dressed, not "outside" pants; so I am wearing those now. My "decision" is that I am wearing these pants, so technically a shot of me wearing these pants is a shot of a decision. On the other hand, a shot of me standing in my boxer shorts holding in my left hand the one pair, in my right the other, and looking confused, is a shot of "INdecision". A shot of both pairs of pants laid out on my bed, awaiting my decision, is a shot of a "choice".
Is anyone gonna think this hard about it? Not many, I suspect. The idea of capturing "a decision" is a daunting one. This challenge, I predict, will be filled with images of indecision, and images of choices.

Take a picture of you looking approvingly at one pair of pants while tossing away the other.

I reckon shoot the jumper actually mid air, best yet at the beginning of the jump, and you've got an impact image. On the platform...viewers are unsure of the "decision."

I reckon yeah, like these. On the first one, a vertical crop featuring the length of rope might be very dramatic.
I think I'd be looking for those moments showing points of no return...
