I believe, if I understand from previous posts correctly, it was disabled temporarily while investigating a site slowdown. I'm not at all sure how it slowed the site down, but that is what I took away from several threads on the subject.

The google search they link to when you enter a search is pretty good...maybe not exactly what you are used to, but it still works.

| I'm confused. I just did several searches in the forums and they worked fine, albeit slowly. What's disabled? |

The forum search feature has been temporarily disabled. If you would like to use Google to search our forums, you can use the link below:
//www.google.com/search?q=%22DPChallenge+Forums%22%20search |

Hence the confusion... my timing must be perfect. I must've been overseas when that was disabled, so I never saw the forum search go away. |

| From what I've heard, the Google search works better anyway. |

For the Googling experts out there, it there a way to search within a subsection of the forums, or can you only search all forums simultaneously?
My example - I want info on a new computer system, and would like to search the 'Hardware' forum exclusively...is this possible with the google search? |

| I used the site search heaps and loved it. The google search by comparison is really quite frustrating. |

You can guide google by being very specific in keywords.
As an example, if you insert "DPChallenge Forums >> Hardware >>" (do include the quotation marks) as the first parameter in the search criteria, the results should be isolated to the hardware forum.
Try it. It works rather well. |

Thanks, northrop3.
I never doubted google's ability, it is just that some of us are not as google-savvy as others, and that can limit what we find. |
