After having my shots in the local paper a number of times, this weekend included (45K circulation), it was pretty neat seeing a large picture published in San Diego's largest paper, the Union-Tribune, with almost 1/2 million issues in circulation.

This was a very emotional event I covered for my son's High School, who's wrestling team took the State Championship this year in California. (he is 4th from the right, lower row). The school's first State Champions were brought back to the awards banquet for recognition and to present them with the State Championship rings they never received. The 1986 team presented the 2005 team with theirs, and vice-versa, in a poignant changing of the guard.

Congrats to both of you! You know, so far, he's still the "more successful" of the two of you ... now if you can cop a Pulitzer for this, you'll regain family bragging rights. : )

Knew you when...Thanks!

Reporters from both papers asked me to cover it, and sent the shots via email on one, and FTP drop box on the other.
