He he, I had to laugh when I read some thread (for the 1000 time) about how to interpret a challenge subject, so I want to be the first one to bring the point up to the forum, have to say this will be the most disputed challenge ever, OR it is gone turn out to be like 'am I hot or not' :))

Maybe some models....
Some pictures of "L" glass from the Canon front...
I think I will make a self portrait, because I AM beauty ;-)

Question: Beauty with regards to models...do you think only "female" models are acceptable or likely to do well? Do you think a photo of a male model would do well?

I'd score a male model well if it was a well-done shot. Same for a female model, though. To me, the model's gender does not matter if the shot is a good one.
We need more male models on this site!!!!!

Ok, ok...I was just having fun. You're right, it shouldn't matter what the gender, as long the image is a good one. Now, where are those female models again? ;^) |

A male model??? Of course, who needs to ask? As far as I'm concerned there aren't enough male pics for me to analyze. :-) |

I think there will be too much focus on shooting something beautiful, rather than beautifully shooting something, regardless of whether or not it is "beautiful."

The entries I have made so far have been ideas that came to me immediately upon reading the challenge. Beauty, however, did not instantly inspire anything. I have been struggling with this so far and came up with an idea tonight. Time will tell. |

Sing it out, brother! As far as I'm concerned, a "real" phtographer sees beauty where others see crap, and helps others see the beauty for themselves. To the extent to which this challenge becomes a contest to find the perfect model, the perfect rose, the perfect sunset, it's bored me to tears already, in anticipation. I'll be looking for the shots that succeed in elevating something mundane to the level of beauty.

I wish people had been speaking along those lines when the suggestion for Beauty first came up.

its strange there is always talk about thinking outside the box....i take each challenge as a chance to try and do something that different...you wont see a flower sunset of model from me...i want to create a setting that is beautiful and try to capture it as best i can...taking into account all those little tricks you have all been teaching me this past month....the problem with this is that i have to be willing to not appeal to the masses...to have people either love it or hate it....i have decided that i would rather be thought of as different and innovative then the one with the blue ribbons....if i catch on to something that appeals to more than not and i happen to technically catch it well.....then i will accept a ribbon gladly
thank you....

Thanks Buzz, for the thoughts :)
But in this challenge, I don't think we're talking about out of the box.
Description: Beauty is very hard to describe, but we all know it when we see it. Take a photo that makes the viewer say "that's beautiful."
I'm reading that as: the photo, and not necessarily the subject of the photo, should be beautiful. Perhaps this should be thought of as a free study?

Exactly how I felt eventually and why I submitted what I did. |
