Does anyone know what bird is this?
In any case, please make suggestions for improvement.

Thanks Ray,

that's what it is. I don't see them often. Most of the time it is the squirrel feeding itself here!

Anyone notice the dove?

They really like sunflower seeds, peanuts and tend to be very aggressive. If you prefer smaller birds like yellow and purple finches, you might consider a different type of feeder and fill those with niger seed.

Dove......top right hand corner. Very shy bird... makes cooing sounds in the early morning and feeds off of the seeds that fall on the ground.
Very pretty bird.

Hah.. nice catch on the dove. Years ago we had a feeder near the front door, doves would be on the ground around it all the time. One morning I heard a terrific bang on the front storm door. When I open the inner door to look out, there is an imprint of a huge bird on the glass and a hawk on the sidewalk out cold. He dove at the reflections of the doves in the glass. After about 2 minutes the hawk came to and flew off... wonder if he swore off doves.
