I just added the Bookmark Toolbar to my current view, but I am unable to drag any websites to the toolbar to bookmark it. Any ideas of why I am having a problem doing this? Thank you for any help!

From my experience, a couple of ways to do it is to drag a link onto the toolbar or drag the icon from the address bar into the toolbar. |

Yes, I was going through and refamiliarizing myself with some of Firefox's options and features, and thought I might like to start using this. What you said is exactly how it is supposed to work, but for some reason, it isn't behaving that way for me. I am hoping someone else has run into this before. Thank you!

Goto customize...
Verify that the 'Bookmark Toolbar Items' placeholder is actually on either the Bookmark toolbar or Navigation toolbar. Sometimes it's easy to delete it and lose this capability, even if you enable the bookmark toolbar.
If you don't see it, you can always add it back onto the nav/bookmark toolbar (it will be on the palette of icons - 'Bookmarks'. Actually there are two Bookmarks icons, one for the Bookmarks sidepanel and the other for the Bookmark Toolbar Items placeholder)

Just a couple of things to test while I go look for a solution ...
Can you add anything to the toolbar using "Bookmark this page"?
Can you edit the toolbar in the bookmark manager?
Do you get a menu when you right-click the toolbar? |

Mmm, I think you have me thinking right and I have perhaps misused or misunderstood things. But there are still questions. I think I am currently using my Bookmarks Toolbar as a "links" folder, and have it merged up with my menu toolbar. However, when I ask to have a Bookmarks Toolbar in view or not, it is only this new, blank, unuseable one that appears and disappears. Does that make sense to you? Thank you for your assistance!

Hi Kyle. The blank, unusable one is a blank toolbar with no functions on it. Can you verify that the Bookmarks Toolbar Item placeholder is located on the bookmarks toolbar? |

I feel like a complete moron today! I can't even remember now how I got the Bookmarks toolbar merged up into the Menu toolbar. WHat is the "item placeholder"?

You're trying to use it right, no problem there.
As it's blank, try right clicking this page, select "Bookmark this page" and then select "Bookmarks Toolbar Folder" as the option for "Create In". That should add this page to your toolbar.
If it works then it's just dragging that's broken, otherwise the whole toolbar is broken. |

Yes, that worked, but up on the one that I am using as a links folder. This new, blank one that appears when I say "show" in the View menu doens't do anything. Is there a way to have my "links" folder and a new used one to keep as a quick way to temporarily keep new bookmarks?

It is a placeholder which indicates to you where your bookmarks will appear on the toolbars. You can place the 'placeholder' in any location: menu bar, navigation bar, or bookmark toolbar.
If you right click on the toolbar and choose "Customize", You can verify if the placeholder is located somewhere on your toolbars.

Try this, Bookmark the page first and then from your Bookmarks drag the icon and place it on the toolbar.
I don't know if there is any easier way but that is how I do it. |

Okay I'm confused now : )
It sounds like you're trying to use 2 toolbars for bookmarks?
As far as I know this isn't possible - any new toolbars you create can only hold buttons/address bars/etc. |

It's okay, just follow these steps:
- Open up Customize... by right clicking on the toolbar
- You will see the Customize Toolbar palette pop up. One of the items on that palette will be the 'Bookmarks' item, actually there are two of them, one which corresponds with the bookmarks side bar, and the other one which corresponds with the Bookmarks Toolbar Item placeholder.
- Drag it onto your bookmark toolbar.

Thank you all for your patience and assistance. What did I ever do before DPC? I actually figured it out finally in my usual roundabout way, and I actually created a more useful set-up for myself. Yes, I think I was trying to use two Bookmarks Toolbars, which you can't. That is what threw me, I think. But I did do a complete overhaul, and added an "extras" toolbar to place any overflow on when I am surfing. I put my Location Bar up with the Menus and kept the other toolbars for Icon shortcuts. That may not make sense, but with your help, I have it good to go now! Thank you. You guys are so helpful!!

If you go into customize mode (view->toolbars->customize) you should be able to just drag it up there.
Kylie, glad to hear that you're sorted : ) |

I just brought it down to the customize box like the other icons and then just dragged it up into the menu bar after I had cleaned that out.

Open a new tab & type about:config in the address bar.
Type skins in the filter bar - this should leave you with just one line in the list called general.skins.selectedSkin.
Double click this line, clear whatever is in the input box that appears, then click okay.
Restart the browser while praying furiously : )
