I have a battery grip. What it does:
1) Allows you to put two batteries into the grip for extra long shooting
2) Has a shutter release button, setting dial (Eg for aperture in Av), metering button and Ev compensation button. This allows you to use the 300D vertically with the buttons as if it was horizontal. Good for portraits, etc
3) Makes the camera better balanced with larger lenses
4) Can make it easier to hold the camera, depending on your hands
For me, it's a great advantage, and although fair pricey, I love it.

What Paul said. ;)
I got big hands, so the grip is a given and so far i've shot around 1600 shots without a recharge battery. woohoo. [/url] |

One more thing the 350D (I'm assuming the 300D also) offers is a second battery holder that take 6AA bateries for when you have exhausted your recargables. Great for long trips or forgetful types.
I have never run down a full set of AA's. Does anybody know how long a set will last?
