The extreme closeups are the sigma 28-80 macro, the other ones are the 80-200L 2.8 :-)

Good shots! The second one almost looks like he just woke up from an all night bender.

Very nice shots kyebosh. I'm guessing that these are Robins, do you know? Yesterday I also took baby bird shots that made me wish I had been able to afford a faster lens... they're a bit too dark and way too noisy, but were so cute. Here's one of those (hope you don't mind if I post it):

I think they were mocking birds because there was one trying to protect them while i was shooting.

Terrific series Kyebosh. Great expressions on the little bird's face... |

Yes, they must be mockingbirds then! Thanks for sharing those pics. |

Robins do not have blue in their wings. But then, here are the birds I can identify: Humming Bird, Crow, Eagle, Heron, Pigeon, Duck, Goose and Peacock. Oh, Robin and Parrot.

Hey I guess I got my note to kyebosh tangled up with my "here's one I took today" shot. I was saying that the birds kyebosh opened with looked like they might be robins because of the thrush-like lines on their throats. When he said that there was a mockingbird buzzing him as he took the photos, then that settled it - they're baby mockingbirds!
The photo I shot is of a family of bluebirds that recently fledged from a bluebird box on my property. Shame that the woods were so dark in early evening; my 300 f4 (although it was at 4.5 - my mistake), even at ISO 800 didn't quite do the photo justice. It's awfully grainy/noisy and oversharpened. Still such a cute little pose, though, with one baby bluebird perched on TOP of it's sibling, I just thought that some may enjoy it, so I posted anyway. It seemed to fit the thread.
If only I had sprung the extra $2,000 for the 300/f2.8, I'd have gotten the shot! (I can dream anyway). |

Great shots, Dim7. I've been chasing Baltimore Orioles for the last week, getting shots of flashes of orange in the treetops but no keepers. I find them very hard to get in the lens; good job!

And here is what they (baby robins) look like while still in the nest. This was the last guy to leave.
