I know there are much better pictures of lightning on this site. But what do you think since it was my first time trying to capture lightning?

Pretty nice! Does the 350 let you keep the shutter open longer than 30 seconds? Or, do you have a remote?

I had it set to bulb and had my finger on the shutter button the complete 64 sec. The camera was on a firm tripod keeping it from shaking. A remote would of been a lot easier. :)

Fantastic! Is that a fire at left? Very impressed that you would try this, and especially with the results!

nove, thanks... No that's not fire its a church on a hill about 1/2 mile from my house on the other side of the golf course. What your seeing is street lamps by the church and the steeple.

Duh! I didn't even think of that. =] That wouldn't work for me. If I even look funny at my camera when it's on its tripod, it might as well have been hand held...

I think it sucks not your picture though...Had the best show of a storm, my mini tripod broke, and my cat was catching a mouse, ( there was something running on the floor back and forth and the cat behind it... The street light was in the way. And I fired off a complete memory card with nothing this time...

Oh well I will try again another time...
I like your shot really.....
Peace!

Really cool. I've tried to catch lightning, but I can only get a 15 second exposure max with my camera.

We had the most incredible storm here in brisbane last night... the street corner near me was covered in eight inches of hail by the end of it - if you were standing at a distance it almost looked like snow (which is saying something considering the average daily temperature here in winter is 20 degrees celcius).

Great capture. Nice colours and the top streak of lightning mimics the contour of the hill.

We've had lots of lightning here in Singapore recently, especially fork. But when I get my camera set up it suddenly turns to Sheet lightning!!! I'm jinxed - I can kill storms and threads:(

I can match you toe to toe in the thread killing department ;o) But as for that storm-killing talent of yours, hmm, that could be lucrative! Welcome to DPC.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I thought I was going to get another chance last night but the thunderstorms dissipated before dark. Hopefully we will have a good lightning season [with no one getting hurt] and I can get some more captures.
Again thanks to everyone,
Scott W.
