I was trying to justify a purchase of 70-200 f2.8 L, so I took some sample shots with my el-cheapo 75-300mm F4-5.6 USM III lens.
Here is the photo, 100% crop out-of camera with camera defaults applied on raw file, as well as with levels and some dodge/burn action (no sharpening)

I'll have the 70-200 tomorrow to try it out and I'll compare the two...
