I think one of the best ways to excel in photography is to try to emulate the work of those you admire.

I just spent way too much money for a pair of strobes and some other studio equipment. Now it's time to get to work.

For inspiration I went to photo.net to look at their top rated photos- surprise surprise, they're pretty much all nude! This one in particular stood out to me as absolute art. This is a nude shot.

Who do you consider a master of studio photography? I'm not talking headshots and class photos here, I'm talking art. DPC member, famous photographer, whatever. Give me some inspiration, something to shoot for. (shoot for- ha! get it? :D)

DrJOnes and grigrigirl are two of my favorites. Not just because of the nudity either. ;-)

Julia has some really great lighting techniques.

Cool thanks for that. I'd checked out Dr JOnes' stuff, I will spend some more time in Julia's galleries.

Oh, I'm also looking at work by Richard Avedon and Annie Leibovitz, just in case anyone was wondering if I was only interested in nudes ;)

Honestly, I'm just looking for studio work that makes you go "wow".

Just one more bump as I head home. I can't believe how much traffic some threads get and how empty others are. Guess I really need to work on my titles. Or maybe it's just my threads!

Yep, I thought so too- and of all that photographer's work (at least on photo.net) that's the one I think is the best.

So.... any more masters out there?

This is an American guy that lives in Zürich, I kinda know (argued with him once or twice), but I think that it's the kinda stuff that you are looking for.

His website: //www.atelier-mccartney.com/

He also runs this yahoogroup which although Swiss based is English speaking and you would be more than welcome to join where there are a number of pros in this field that would also be happy to help you.

Hope this helps :)
