Hello everyone . . . .

As I spent the weekend in Washington DC to visit my father, I had plenty of opportunities to get some great shots. Switching from my old fascination or water, I am now onto the art of combining photos (I switch every week to try and learn something new). This photo was made from 4 photos.

I started by taking a photo of the washington monument, and deleting it, leaving only the water. Next I took a pic of the Capital Building and centered it in the place where the monument had earlier stood. In the foreground, I took out the annoying tourists such as myself, and put in a nice grass lawn. On the way back home, I had to pass by the New York City skyline and decided to take a photo. I later added that to my image giving a look as if the capital building in Washington DC was in NYC. This was my first attempt, and was purely for fun, but I hope you enjoy and would love to get some critiques. Again, don't go to hard on me, this was for only to amuse you guys.

I really like the second picture. I love the
background of the city.

OK, now the reflect skyline as well as the dome? Good job overall though!

You may want to check out worth1000 -- it would be right up your alley. My suggestion for this one: blur your reflection some.

Now my question is, did they remove the gigantic crane in front of the Washington Monument or did you clone it out? Or is this done "pre-crane"? I'm still sulking about the crane ruining a great night image view from the Lincoln Memorial. Fun image still!

Take a closer look the skyline is reflected in the river.

interesting combination, but to be really convincing, you need to make sure you're matching your horizons.. The background horizon line is pretty obvious, but the forground horizon is where the two edges of the "pool" intersect, which is far below the background horizon. To me, automatically my eyes go bonkers and cant understand the image.. for a second i was seeing a skyline "floating" in the background, because it's horizon line was way too high compared to the foreground. It's a good first attempt, dont get me wrong, but if you're going to make others, keep this in mind :)

Haha . . . some great advice from everyone! I especially like the one that talks about your eyes going bonkers :) I will have to keep working, but I have already spent over an hour on this one photo, so I may cash in my chips and try for a new table. Thanks again!
