That's so kind of you, and definately mutual!
Ok, so now do say the same in Korean :-)
Afrikaans is one of the languages on my wish-list to learn one day. But I have to finish portuguese and french first, and probably Italian too cause my parents speak Italian.
But then it'll probably be afrikaans. Is its pronounciation dificult?

Well imagine that. This is the last place on the planet I expected to hear (read) my home language of Afrikaans!
A friend of mine is studying in Germany to become a professor in languages. He has tried to teach me German, but it is a lot more formal and genderised than good old Afrikaans.
Pletterpetje is not a commonly used Afrikaans word. Made me laught though! very graphic word.

Only at 3 you get the skills to actually speak that language?
Myself, I talked in Hebrew before I turned 1, and it's considered to be a dificult tongue. Hmmmmm.....

To my knowledge Afrikaans is more based on farmers Dutch like Fries or Westfries, not German. Even for a Dutchman it can be difficult to learn proper German as they use strange conjugations as a result of that genderisation where we don't.
Pletterplet sounds a lot better as bouwhelm, still makes me grin everytime I think of it. :)

I speak English as a first language, and Spanish as a second language. I had no real need to learn spanish, save that I went to Venezuela on a mission trip (and am returning this summer :D) but I learned it because I'm one of those weird smart people who believe the brain is like a muscle, the more you exercise it, the stronger it grows. Right now, I'm attempting to learn Norwegian (for the sole purpose that I have a Norwegian friend and even though he speaks English, I think it'd be cool to talk to him in Norwegian...and to grow smarter). |

Not that difficult, very phonetic but with strong gutteral sounds. It will be understanding context that may make it difficult as you will have to have a very good vocabulary to understand.

Afrikaans is related to and has it's roots in Dutch, but it definately is not Dutch anymore.

I run into far too many people who mangle English and it is their "first" and only language. You folks make it look easy, and I know it isn't. I admire you greatly for this. Now back to photography, and I will try to stay on topic for the rest of the day.
Edit: just to illustrate my point, I, of course, mangle the subject line myself! lol |
Thanks Kylie because it's difficult ;o)
