OK who has this camera? I have done everything with the settings I can think of and STILL my photos are not what I would expect from a Canon 5 MPG camera.
grainy and lousy quality IMO.
I like my 2.4 MPG Fuji FinePix 4900Z MUCH better!
I am so disappointed.
I have it set to shoot at ISO 50, Superfine setting. I have played around with over and under exposure, night setting and long shutter.
can ANYONE give me tips for this particular camera? |

Annee, I don't know about YOUR particular camera, but I have used many other Canon point and shoots and have always been happy with them.
There are 52 owners listed on DPC, one of them is TomFoolery, perhaps you'd like to send him a PM asking for tips.
The photos I see taken by various people with that camera look fine to me. You sound like you've played around with your settings already, perhaps it is time to set up a more structured comparison with one of the other owners.
Good luck!
Edited to ask: why has my icon turned into a genderless alien with a weapon? Yuckkkkkkkkkkkk

Aside from grain, what other issues are you having? Is the camera doing most everything else it should or is it screwing up in other areas, as well? Are there certain types of photographs that are better than others, say daytime photos are great, but nigth shots are horrible? How do the unprocessed, straight from the camera, photos look?
Most of the other shots with your type of camera seem quite good. Maybe, and I hope this isn't the case, you just got ahold of a lemon.

if you look in my profile, recent portfolio additions, there is a folder called birds. those were a bright sunny day and I think, the quality of the shots is TERRIBLE.
I am going to retry it soon making CERTAIN the ISO is set at 50 because I am not sure it was before.
mostly grain seems to be my issue. I feel like the shots should be of a higher quality than my photos with the fuji which is only a 2.4 MPG I believe. I feel like the camera is not living up to my expectations. Especially after seeing shots other have taken with this cam.
the two current challenges I used the fuji and the shots looks good and my scores are much better. |
