I searched the forums for this and didn't find anything, so apologies if this has been discussed before...

In several recent challenges, including the current apple one, I have had the same image come up more than once during voting. In one recent challenge, I saw at least three images repeated during voting, meaning that I voted on the image, then I saw it again later during voting and voted on it again.

Is this a known site issue? If not, is anyone else having this problem? If it helps, I am using IE 5.2 on a Mac running OS 10.3.9.

you sure it wasn't a different very similar photo? there are a few of those in this challenge...

Positive. In this challenge and the last one, there was a very unique image that was easily recognizable that repeated during voting for me. I was wondering if it was my imagination, so I was looking out for it during the apple challenge and confirmed it for sure.

Not sure why this is happening to you. Since your the only one that's mentioned it, I'm guessing your not pushing the vote button (number), or your moving to fast..too slow and timing out? Lets see if some others chime in with the same problem.

It has happened to me before but I run Firefox and had two tabs open in DPC. I alway put the ones I want to comment on in the tabs for later commenting. I since stopped doing that and it has fixed the problem.

this has happened to alot of people and there have been many threads on it but i cant post it because the search doesnt work and i cant find it in google.

Thanks for your feedback on this. I don't think that I would be able to move on to the next image if I didn't correctly push the vote button. If I did that, the page would just stay the same until I press it correctly.

I don't know what you mean by moving too fast. Does this mean that if I press the vote button before the image is completely loaded, then the vote doesn't register? I can't imagine that being the case since I look carefully at every image, but would like to know if it's possible.

As for going too slow and timing out, that's not the problem here. I have done this before and it takes me back to the main challenge page if I vote on an image after waiting too long. In these cases, I voted at a regular pace and proceeded to the next image as normal, then saw the same image again later.

it happened to me last challenge I voted on....even though i had one browser window open.... it repeated several photos...

I've seen the same image repeated while voting several times- enough to know that it DEFINITELY happens. I think it might be timing/cache related since it seems to happen if I walk away from voting for a while.

Using Safari here on 10.4.1, no problems. I remember using 10.3.9 and Safari not accepting cookies and I'd get the same photo over and over. Use Safari and allow cookies and you'll be fine.

Okay, so it's good to know that I'm not the only one having this problem. I don't imagine that this would be the highest priority on the site's list of problems since it's a fairly inocuous issue, but I just wanted to be sure that it's on the list somewhere. Thanks, everyone, for your replies.

I've had this happen occasionally also. Just often enough to make me wonder if I've seen that one before, hmmm, then it happens again and removes any doubt. Using regular old MS-Internet Explorer, btw.

It happens to me once in a while if I've had the image loaded in the browser (voting page) and don't do anything with it for more than 5 or 10 minutes and THEN select a vote number. Usually when this happens the vote doesn't actually take and the thumbnail page loads instead of advancing to the next image to vote on.

This is exactly how I experience this issue. It seems as if this is how it is designed (correctly).

I have this happen when I skip over an entry and move on to the next one, the skipped over entry will appear again sometimes within the next few photos, sometimes much later.

Right, that is correct site behavior. But neither that nor the abovementioned fact that an image will show up again later if the voter skips it, is the problem that I am describing. The Site Council is aware of the problem I described, which is all that I wanted to accomplish.
