It looks like I'm going to have to get the silver, and sell the lens.

Anyone have the silver. Is it tacky? Any more tacky than the original Rebel?

(Shannon--$759 isn't better with the lens, if the lens is "useless" to me.)

You may be able to sell the lens through a local camera store, straight out or on commission. Its worth concidering.

We just did that with akit lens and got $100. It also never hurts to have a back-up lens... shit happens ya know.

Don't think of it as a useless lens... think of it as a 6% mail-in rebate. As soon as (or IF) you get the kit, sell the lens on eBay for $50. Then your 350D cost you $669. ;-)

Well, right now I have the silver ordered, with lens, for $719 and next day shipping (when it supposedly ships June 2). That's I guess some consolation for getting silver, if I can sell the lens for $69 or so. It would mean a Rebel XT body for $650 rather than $726 (I got free shipping this time). I guess $76 is worth giving up black. (Assuming I don't just lose it in resale later, if I were to sell it in two years.)

I am going to put this up on resellerratings.com though. I'm still pretty unhappy with Dell (though Daiana, who I finally ended up with in Sales, was pretty nice). I'll think pretty hard about using them next time; the price will have to be pretty sweet (which this one was, I guess).

Wrote mine before I saw yours ;)

Thanks. I haven't sold on e-bay yet; I started to do that for my Rebel, but it seemed like the percentage and other costs added up. What does it end up costing in the end to sell something for $60?

It'll cost you about $3 to sell that lens on eBay, and you specify that the buyer pays shipping/insurance. Whatever the fee, the remaining money represents a discount off your already ridiculously low price. That might turn into a free filter or polarizer for you. ;-)
