Hey everybody,
I've been doing some pretty rudimentary research into this lens to replace my some-what-average Canon 18-55mm kit lens. I can't find it in the DPC lens database. I've read a few reviews on the net, and it sounds highly promising.
Is anyone using this lens or can give me a honest opinion?
Also having trouble finding a New Zealand retailer at a reasonable price, anyone know a good foreign wholesaler/retailer who will export?
Any help you can provide will be gladly appreciated.

goto dpreview.com's canon slr lens forum and do a search
I haven't heard much about it but most seem to say it performs poorly at 2.8 but sharpens as you increase the aperature.

| Hmm... well bhphoto will send stuff here - I have no personal experience, but I've been thinking about getting a sigma 105 mm macro from them - and even after import duties, taxes and postage it'd be about 200-300 Australian dollars less than it is here. |

| Of course when you buy it from overseas you don't have the benefit of a local warranty... but when the price difference is so dramatic, it's hard to pass it up. |

| No experience... but I was really tempted to go for this lens. Apparently over in the DPReview Minolta DSLR forum, not one person managed to buy this lens without having backfocusing problems, needing to be sent back to Sigma. I think this may only have been on the Minolta mount, but it doesn't bode well. |
