What colors do you use to matte and frame prints done in Sepia?

my personal opinion would be that black frame and white matte is both the classic standard and is classy. Most times you cant go wrong with black or white.

I agree with nico, you can't go wrong with black and white.

To me black and white on a sepia photo would clash. Sepia gives an image an aged look so I would go with a rustic wood frame (stained in a colour that complements the photo) and a textured matte of some sort.

Ok, I had talked myself into a black frame and white matte... but the mention of wood makes sense also...I guess I can just play with them when I go to the frame store...

Personally I don't like the wood frame for sepia photos.
I find it too boring.
I agree with the Nico and Dave. Black, simple frame and white matte make the warm tones of the sepia photo stand out without paying too much attention to the frame itself.
but if you really want to go crazy, and your photo is not too much full of details, you can try a woden frame colors with a light blue wash, where the color is very light and you can see the frame through it.
the matte would still be white or cream color.
but this one is only for a photo that is unique for it's simlpicity or else you'll steal the attention from the photo to the frame.

Thanks everyone, I went with a black frame and a very pale cream matte...as the did an effect to the photo that left plain white surrounding the sepia photo it's self, so white was a little too stark...

The photo's turned out really nice, went from snap shots to something that the person plans on taking to display in his office.

I'm glad you found a frame/matte combination that worked for you.
