has anyone else noticed the number of pictures that use the same subject matter? Is this a usual occurrence? Like the number of dandelion pics, or ferris wheel/amusement ride pics.
OR
has anyone noticed the two pictures that are of the exact same place at the exact same time? Do some of you go out and photo together? Or does someone have more than one account?

Happens more than you think, But thats why we have GTG's :). Neither one of those is mine so.. Yea we like to learn from each other tips and what not. Some DPC'ers tend to think on the same wave length. I try to think out of the lil box []. But the dandelion photo's were very unexpected.

there were 2 dandelion photo's in the top 20 of the previous silhouette challenge ... people often check past challenges to see what scored well. |

I always see people talk about that but i didn't really think they mimic old challenges. Doesn't that show a lack of creativitey. I'm going to have to keep my eye open on future challenges and look at past challenges..

My bad. It was already edited though. I wasn't thinking. It really was just out of curiosity though. Won't happen again. |

the flip side of things is that when i took my silhouette shot i had no idea there was a shot with a simmular subject in the past silhouette challenge i submitted it anyway...and will see how it fairs but there are some thing that just jump into your mind and they may or may not have been done before they are just new to u.....i went back to a spot i had shot before and thought yeah, that would look good in silhouette.....so i shot it again...i was dissipointed to see that in the past challenge there was a simmular subject....but i can't just go and spend another few day waiting for the light just because of that....
i don't think its fair just to judge shots like that they should be judged on how well the are presented themselves and if they are well done that in shouldn't matter......lets face it we are all coping the greats who pioneered this path......
if u want to play guitar as good as jimmy hendrix why stop at a blue haze shoot for purple......if u know what i mean.
so if we are all copping the 1s who came before us make it as much your own as possible and i would hope no 1 would just say copy cat and write it off.........
that is my 2¢ take it if u want......

i didnt enter the challenge but when challenges are repeated its hard to not enter some of the old ideas even if they are from different challenges.

Topics are repeated and invariably will lead to repeats of subject matter. I don't have the time to research all past photos to avoid giving the impression I am ripping somoene elses idea off. My time is limited and I take what is available to me in the time given.
Advice to the trigger happy: Vote the photo as it stands, don't try to read the mind of the photographer and attribute bad/evil/lazy/plagiaristic motives because you will fail and leap to wrong conclusions which, if done to you, would displease you greatly.
