Took these pictures two weeks ago. You should've seen the neighbor's faces at the sight of my 30x60" softbox and 48" umbrella in the street. Priceless!
  
Also had one of my friends model for me that night. Ahh, good old 150 foot extension cord all the way to the swingset.
 
Used a Digital Rebel XT with 50 1.4 lens, borrowed while my 300D was getting its shutter replaced. I own two Alienbees B800's, had them turned up on about 3/4 power for the skateboard shots. For Jannah, I used just one with a reflector at about 1/4 power, diffused by a handkerchief held taught by a rubber band. Worked great!

Those skateboard shots are fantastic. Such sharpness and great colors for being at night.
The swing shots are interesting portraits, I like the first one best. Quite nice.

Great shots, Andrew. Thanks for including the setup details as well - that is always helpful for those of us who want to know how you did these. How about a reshoot of the same with the 300D so I can have more proof I should've waited a month and spent a few extra bucks. ;-)

Ha, I'm sure I could do the same with my 300D. It was too dark to use AI Servo, and I didn't quite figure out how to use the metering, though I didn't need it for the lights. The speed of playback, start-up, photo browsing, saving, etc were all welcome changes, for sure.

| Try resizing with smoothing. It will help the arms against the black background. |
