Rabbits! Now I know why the University has virtually no dandy lions on the grounds.
100% crop.

She's happy.
100% crop.

Both photos were with the tamaron 28 - 75 mm. Sure takes a while to get used to a lens and camera.

Question though. Is it better to focus on the object then move it back into the subject to get clearer eye photos?

No. Use the closest AF point to the eyes so you have to recompose the least. I have my 20D Custom Funtion set so I can use the "Multi-controller" to select the AF point. It is much faster than having to scroll through the all the points. Using that with the same Tamron lens I get great results.
