As we'll be seeing lots of these different kids of photos this coming week and voting on them, I'd like to know your thoughts of what makes each of these types of photography effective? Too often, many of perhaps vote on photos, forgetting that there are different types or modes of photography, and that each mode has slightly different criteria for what makes them "good."
Perhaps they have different names for you, but here are my definitions:
Studio: taken in a studio (duh), posed or semi-posed: so for Fauna, this would mean taking your pet alligator, putting her under lights and trying to get the most sentimental (or whatever) shot.
Candid/Journalistic: taken "on the fly," with no posing. Rather the photogapher is trying to catch something or someone in its natural element. So for Fauna, this would mean going to the swamp, and as the alligataor is eating you, you're snapping away.
Again, I'd love your thoughts: what makes each of these types of photography "tick?"
Examples of others' work may be helpful, too.
