Is WA supported by 20D - and if not, would this card still be usable?

Lexar 2GB WA

Sorry I'm posting so many questions - but my birthday is coming up and I'm buttering up the hubby for the new camera and it seems to be working.

The 20D supports all the latest CF cards available.

The Lexar cards will work, but last time I checked, Canon still doesn't support Lexar's WA technology. See //www.lexar.com/digfilm/wa_cf.html for a list of companies/cameras that support WA. Also, see Rob Galbraith's CF card database (20D link provided) for sample write speeds with various cards.

The 20D will do the 5.6Mb speed, Sandisk Ultra II speed. (40X i believe). Faster cards will have no benefit, slower cards will work, but might show their lack of speed in continous mode.

So the Extreme III would not be worth purchasing? It seemed to have the best numbers on the chart I looked at (link in previous reply)

I disagree. according to this: //www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007-7303
the 20D is writing RAW at 5.983MB/sec. Though not a huge difference it is still there.

I use the Lexar 80x 1 and 2GB, and though I do not know the "technicalities" of the write speed, I believe that it is much faster than my Ultra II card. I rarely use the Ultras anymore since my experience has been that the 80x's keep up with me much better!

Actually, I believe Ultra are only 60x-80x and Ultra III are like 110x. But I could be mistaken. Your Lexar 80x is considered an equivalent to the ultra line. (Which some call Proline, and others denote actual speed. Wish they ALL did that.)

There's more to Lexar/Sandisk's top range than just speed. Even though I can't appreciate the additional speed, I've ordered a 1GB Extreme III just because of reliability.
