1st off, I am not spamming.

2nd, I am NOT spamming...

I am in no way affiliated with the link I am putting in here, I have never even purchased anything from there, I don't know anyone there.

Someone I know forwarded me the link below and pointed out a photo contest. What they are looking for "Submit your absinthe related picture or a photograph and let our visitors vote for the best absinthe image."

Now, I don't drink absinthe, won't touch the stuff. The competition link is on the left side of the page.

//www.laboheme.uk.com/index.html

I figured that the subject and them having the site visitors vote lends itself to the types of images we get here.

SC, I swear I am not spamming...

I really like the rating system for the contest... Cool or Lame no in between... guess the thin skinned might not do well on that one... So far no one is in the positive on the Cool side. :)

Spam is generally pinkish grey in color, it only turns green if you leave it open in the back of the fridge for 2-3 months! ;-)

One of the photos made it to the 'Cool' side - 52%. It is the one with the table setting and flame from the liquid in the glass. That photo would get blasted here for such a shallow DOF. There are more than a few here that would be able to run them over.

No mk, this is definitely not spam!

I think I finally found a decent sig to use here...

i just sent off my version for the competition.

i hope i win, i'll be throwing an absinth party.

It would be cool to win but it's just a shame that La Boheme imports only Czech absinthe products which are generally regarded as being some of the lowest quality.

this is what I sent to the companies competition.

weather you like it or not, go to the site and vote "cool" for me so I can win the case of alcohol. Yippee.

You know how us red skins like our fire water.

it may be lame to some, or it may be cool to others.

But, whatever it is to you my fellow DPCers, please vote 'cool' on it so I can get the grand prize of some cheap czeck absinth.

come on, you don't have anything to loose...do ya? except maybe some self respect?

as of 2001:

U.S. Customs codes state "The importation of Absinthe and any other liquors or liqueurs that contain an excess of artemisia absinthium is prohibited."

In real world practice it is illegal to import any liquor that contains a detectable concentration of artemisia absinthium.

U.S. Customs can seize anything labeled as absinthe. If they do or don't, that depends on the knowledge and discretion of the agent.

If absinthe does not contain artemisia absinthium, and there are several brands available, the product is fully legal in the US. Most companies that sell non artemisia absinthium absinthe guarantee no U.S. customs problems.

If you want to distill your own absinthe, you will need a license from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms. The reason is because absinthe contains alcohol, and it is illegal to distill alcohol in the United States without a license.

This is all news to me. What is it about this sustance "artemisia absinthium" that requires it to be banned? Is USA the only place that doesn't allow it? Please enlighten us further.
