It took a few months for me to get a zoom lens, and it came yesterday! I had to read the instructions...hard to admit, but I could not get the lens out of macro mode.

I like the sharpness, color and contrast, length(reach?) and speed of focus. I wasn't expecting much from the macro mode but it is very impressive (to me anyway)

If you are talking about the APO II version, it's a great lens. I have one too. To get to the macro mode, make sure you are in 200-300mm zoom range, switch to MF, then focus to the macro range, the turn the AF on. To go back just reverse order.

I also have the APO II lens. It give great images, but there can sometimes be a lot of shake when you'r out at 300. You have to make sure that you are in the normal focus range in order to get out of macro, meaning to the right of the N. Otherwise, the switch locks.
