in 300D if u choose adobe 98, other setting such as sharpness and saturation is diabled. For printing as i understand it, it is preferable to use Adobe 98.

Web browser/image viewer(ACDSee) does not support Adobe 98 right? Only sRGB?
This causes my pictures editted in sRGB looks a bit dull after 'saving for web'

So is the extra step to convert the profile from Adobe 98 to sRGB the only way if i were to shoot in Adobe 98, but post on the web?

I had the same problem with Adobe 98 with web posting and printing. Very dull pictures. If I use Adobe 98, I convert it to sRGB prior to posting or printing.

Yes.

Adobe 98 has a richer color set that is needed for printing. Therefore, always post process in Adobe 98 and print in Adobe 98. The web displays in sRGB. sRGB has fewer colors. An Adobe RGB image appears 'dull' if it is not converted to sRGB before posting to the web because its richer colors, which the web cannot display, get lost. That is why you always convert to sRGB before posting to the web.
