After soliciting advice in this thread, I am now the proud owner of a gleaming new Micro-Nikkor 200 f/4. The build quality on this lens is amazing... Absolutely no play anywhere in it, focuses smooth as silk, and has a really nice rate at the close end to control depth of field.

The other thing that really surprised me was the weight. This thing weighs a TON, as evidenced by the tripod collar. The camera is better balanced on the ballhead when I use the collar with this lense than it is with my normal kit lens rig. Cool!

Thought I'd share a few of my first macro shots. No bugs yet, just flora. But I'm anxious to have a go at working with some of Jacko's models. After last night I have a new level of respect for the challenges of macro photography. It's harder than it looks :)

Bump...

I should have picked a different title for this thread along the lines of "YEAH!!! NEW ROCKIN' LENS!!!". That's more in line with how I'm feelin' about it :)
