Anyone know of any site that does a comparison of the 1.4x versus the 2x on the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8

???

I have the 70-200 f/2.8L IS and use it with a 1.4x II but haven't tried the 2x. But I can tell you that I was told by the 'experts' in the store and a professional nature phototrapher that the 2x is not as hot...

Here is one link that might offer you some advice:

I read someone stating that they got quite nice macro shots using the 2x extender on a 70-200mm

They posted an impressive close up of a fly. Seemed pretty sharp?

The 1.4x by itself is just not enough zoom for what I'd like. (280mm vs 400mm is a BIG difference) Also, if the 1.4x adds an f/stop and is better than the 2x. Is there a possibility of using two 1.4x in conjunction?

70-200mm f/2.8
x1.4 = 280 f/2.8+1 stops ???
x1.4 = 392 f/2.8+2 stops ???

???

Wouldn't you still be under the f/5.6 AF limit for a 20D?

here's a review that will exactly answer your questions with real world pictures for comparison.
